Idaho Public Television produced an illuminating portrait of the life and work of SARA in a new documentary, which premiered on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 —  SARA: A Life in Dreams and Symbols. The documentary is a part of IdahoPTV’s new createid program, which celebrates the artists, creators, and makers of Idaho.

On June 1, 2024, the documentary was the recipient of a Northwest Regional Emmy® Award in the Arts/Entertainment Long Form Content category, and in November 2025 was awarded a Daytime Emmy® in the new “Outstanding Regional Content” category.

Congratulations to Marcia Franklin and Andy Lawless for the four years that went into this brilliant portrayal of SARA’s work and life.

In addition,  PBS Teachers has created an excellent learning packet of materials geared toward students Grades 6-8, to accompany the documentary. These materials assist Idaho school children to meet their Idaho State Board of Education visual art standards. Have a look at those materials here.
