Not having television, SARA relied on NPR, daily newspapers, libraries, and information print media. Her monthly magazine subscriptions ran into the teens, from Archaeology to Astronomy, Art in America to Scientific American, with a wide variety in between.
She wrote in her journal,
“I am not so interested about what is in front of the eyes as I am about what is behind the eyes”
