SARA’s journals provide the provenance and foundation for more than 350 major works of art that SARA produced in her lifetime. The journals contain over 170 signed works, hundreds of non-signed drawings, thousands of sketches, and many dream stories. These works were done in crayon, marker, pencil, pen, and occasional watercolor.
She wrote in her journal,
“Art wants some kind of??? Something unexpected, or some kind of purpose? Some reason? Some order? I think we crave order, reason, purpose, and the unexpected something crazy thrown in.”
